the lot

Sometimes the best of ideas are born in the dead of night; this was no exception.

From forgetting the cabin keys to one-dollar treasures at Ken's Kash, this evening jaunt to The Lot was one adventure after the other. Besides the usual s'mores and expected hilarity, Richard kept us entertained and thoroughly spooked with his haunted tales and Jonny played the true hero with the purchase of a Wild West toy kit which proved both inspiring and embarrassingly addictive. We remember with sadness the passing of the one-armed cowboy, who remains MIA somewhere amongst the aspens, and the loss of so very many brave, plastic figurines who fought to the end.

So here's to The Lot: Thnks fr th mmrs.

*edit*---for a more full-bodied account (and entirely better writing), check out my sister site, Mostly Martha. And, honestly? I'm still wondering about the suspicious deer-hunter-at-large.

The "picture"? I believe it's pictures, my friend---and they're all saved to my computer. So, you know, if M's ever giving you a hard time or something. . .

The "picture," or "the lightning that lit up the city"?

My Ghost story:

Dark Forest: The Dandy family move to Hinsdale, New York to live in the country in 1970. The father commutes to Buffalo, a seventy minute drive. When the buy the house, Clara, the mother, is disturbed by the crawl space which has a fireplace in it. As soon as they move in, strange things start to happen. They get a bee problem in the house during a time of the year when bees are not usually around. Mike, their son, is in the woods with some neighbor friends one day when they encounter a ghost teenager with a rifle. Clara too has strange experiences in the woods, such as hearing a strange sound.

One night while Mike is sleeping a box of checkers falls onto him, which were placed underneath a stack of magazines. They decide to bring in a priest to bless the house, but the hauntings do not stop. One night Tina, their daughter, stops responding and her eyes turn black momentarily. They also find stacks of bricks in the attic that weren't there before. A psychic is brought in who tell them that a stagecoach route ran through their property years ago. A group of people were robbed and murdered and placed in the crawl space.

Mike gets into a terrible car wreck that puts him into a coma. The police officer on the scene reported that Mike claimed there was someone in the car with him, despite the fact that no people were. Clara is convinced that the haunting is involved. Afterwards the have the psychic and priest come back to try and rid the house of spirits. For a while things return to normal, but less than a year later the hauntings start again. Fed up, they move out of the house.

Untold second story:

Lake Club Horror:In 1974, a one-time Springfield, Ill., dance hall and gambler's paradise is transformed into a rock 'n' roll nightclub besieged by phantom music, inexplicable blasts of cold air and an ominous warning that one of the new owners is about to die.
